The House

We have a village house on a steep, pedestrian road. It has a large flower-filled garden and two terraces with spectacular views down the mountain valley. On a clear day you can see Gibraltar and the Riff Mountains of North Africa. There is a lemon and an orange tree, vines, bougainvillea and a shaded mirador at the bottom of the garden.

The house, cleaned and managed locally, sleeps six comfortably, eight if you want to use the sofa bed. The ground floor has a double bedroom, small sitting room with a wood burning stove, bathroom (shower and bath) and an open plan kitchen/dining/lounge area with doors leading to the ground floor terrace and dining area. The upper floor has a wooden beamed sloping roof. There are two bedrooms which lead from one another – one with two single beds and one with a double futon. The second bedroom leads out onto the top terrace.

The house is well equipped with stereo, CD player and a supply of favourite novels and books on the region, local maps and information. The kitchen has an electric oven, gas hob, fridge/freezer, continuous hot water, electric juicer and all the basic equipment for eight people.
