Gaucin

Gaucin (pronounced Gow-th-een) is one Andalucia’s famous Pueblos Blancos or White Villages. Perched on a balcony in the mountains of the Serranio de Ronda, overlooked by its Moorish castle, resident eagles and vultures, it is a village of tiny winding streets and spectacular views across the mountains to the sea.

Gaucin is still a working Spanish village and you may find yourself accompanied on walks by local goatherds. It also has a long tradition of welcoming visitors, being on the old road from Ronda to Gibraltar.

There are hotels, a variety of restarurants serving local and international food and bars serving tapas.. There are small supermarkets, lots of village shops,a post office, a bank and a heath food/organic veg shop that doubles as an internet café. You could buy everything you need within the village and eat at a different restaurant every night.

In the summer months there is a municipal swimming pool. All the year round there are fiestas.

Gaucin can be reached by train: please ask us for details. Gaucin is one hour from Gibraltar airport and one and half hours from Malaga. The motorway network is 30 minutes away.
